Bachata

Bachata is a form of music and dance that originated in the countryside and rural marginal neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. Its subjects are usually romantic; especially prevalent are tales of heartbreak.

Bachata grew out of - and is still closely related to - the pan Latin-American romantic style called bolero. Over time, it has been influenced by merengue - a fast paced dancable music also native to the Dominican Republic - and by a variety of Latin American guitar styles from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Columbia.


 

Casino or Rueda

Rueda de Casino is a lively popular Cuban dance form which is growing in popularity. It is a couples partner dance in which couples dance in a circle and perform moves called out by a leader. Recent variations include Miami Style by artists such as Salsa Lovers.
 

Cha Cha Cha

Cha Cha (also known as Cha Cha Cha) became popular in the early 1950s. Cha Cha is an offshoot of the Mambo. In early days, this dance and its music were both known as "triple mambo" or "mambo with guiro rhythm". Eventually it evolved into a separate dance, known today as the Cha Cha. The dance consists of three quick steps (triple step or cha cha cha) and two slower steps on the one beat and two beat.
 

Cuban

Music and instruction from the heart of Cuba.

Hustle

Hustle is a swing-related dance. NY Hustle is the definitive disco hustle dance. Generally, if someone is dancing hustle, they are dancing NY Hustle. Originally it was a six-count dance, it changed in the eighties to three-count dance.
 

Kizomba

Kizomba is one of the most popular genres of dance and music created in Angola. Derived directly from Zouk music, sung generally in Portuguese, it is a genre of music with a romantic flow mixed with African rhythm. The Kizomba dancing style is also known to be very sensual.

Merengue

Merengue is the national dance of the Dominican Republic. The tempos in Merengue vary and can be quite fast paced. It is a very popular dance that is easy to learn and essentially a "fun" dance. Merengue great stepping stone for begginers wanting to learn Salsa.
