Over 30 hours of workshops and a sizzling party night including Shows and Animation hosted by Sue (Salsa...feel the heat) and compered by Rohan Brown (Salsa Fever).
It used to be soul music that set Northern towns alight. Nowadays, another musical force is spreading like wildfire across the sports halls and dance floors. Salsa – the high-tempo, passionate dance of Latin America has found an unlikely second home in towns such as Wigan. Dance classes, club nights and weekenders are attracting big numbers and bringing the stars of the scene over from South America and Spain.
It's going to be one of the Salsa gatherings of the year.
Salsa...feel the heat – the organisers of one of the biggest salsa events in the North, the Northern Salsa Wigan All Dayer, takes place in Wigan on Saturday 12th February and runs till late on Sunday morning will be one of the Salsa gatherings of the year. If you go along as a novice, you'll leave a convert. If you're a salsa afficionado, you've probably already sorted out your ticket.
It starts on Friday night with a relaxed pre party then continues throughout Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday with workshops for all levels, showcase demonstrations from the stars, and chances to watch and dance with the instructors and performers.
The Saturday party with music from top Cuban Salsa DJs, gives students the chance to mingle and perfect their dance moves with the instructors. It's going to be a lively, invigorating, and hugely enjoyable experience.
Salsa stars attending the weekender include twice World Open Salsa Champion Rafael Del Busto from Cuba, internationally renowned instructor and compere Rohan Brown, and Portugal’s Kizomba dance sensation: Nelson de Oliveira Campos – plus a long line-up of salsa instructors from around the world.
The classes will give students the chance to experience various forms of dance within the Salsa family – Cuban, Cha-Cha, Son, Reggaeton and La Rueda plus the passion of the sensual dances Kizomba and Bachata.
The event is being held at the Robin Park Sports Centre, Wigan. You can do the whole event or buy individual passes for the party nights.
The price for the whole event, including all workshops and both party nights is £45 if booked before the 31st August (with prices going up £5 per month thereafter ).
Hotel accommodation is available if required at the special rate of £45 for a double / twin room per night (bed and breakfast) at the Bellingham Hotel, 141-149 Wigan Lane, Wigan. The hotel itself is situated only a mile or so away from the Event Venue but hosts the Pre Event Party Night on the Friday.
The price for the Friday Night party pass is only £5, with the Saturday Night Party including Shows and Animation, is £40. Parties go on until 1am on Friday and 3am on Saturday.
