Directamente Al Mambo is the third release of the international group Mamborama. Produced and arranged by Grammy nominated pianist Bill Wolfer, it was recorded entirely in Havana , Cuba with a cast of the very best musicians and singers from the island. The guest artists include Roberton from Los Van Van, El Tosco and Tony Cala from NG La Banda, Cubanito 20.02, and many others. Wolfer explains the concept of the group and the album:

"Mamborama is a strange thing. It is a group, but it's not. Basically, it is a vehicle for me to express myself with Cuban music. It's my music, but it's Cuban, too. And I am free to choose whoever I want to work with whether it's for recording or a tour. I am very fortunate that I can work this way, and that these incredible musicians enjoy working with me. And even though there is only one permanent member of Mamborama, there is no way I could do this alone, I need these beautiful musicians, and I am grateful to all of them for their contributions to the music."

"Directamente Al Mambo took me two years to create. I had a bad case of writer's block in California , so I decided to come to Havana to try to find inspiration. I found it. And without planning it, the album became the story of my time in Cuba . Each and every song relates to my life and my experiences in Havana . I like that."

With an amazing array of guest artists, Directamente Al Mambo is destined to be the breakthrough album for Mamborama. Wolfer continues to divide his time between Havana and California , and is currently writing music for the next album, and making plans for a tour.
